JNA Institute of Culinary Arts
Wins ACF’s Junior Culinary Competition

On Saturday February 28th, five 1st year culinary arts students took home the gold, winning the state level championship for the American Culinary Federation’s Junior Culinary Competition.  Coach Michael DeLuca, Chef Instructor at the JNA Institute of Culinary Arts, led his team to victory to be proclaimed State Champions for the Penn Jersey Metropolitan Chef’s Association Chapter of the American Culinary Federation.
 The team has been practicing since October 2003 and includes:
          Ty Chhan of Philadelphia PA
          Ashley A Cobbett of Wallingford CT
          Idit Lazarov Mexico City Mexico
          Nethina Taylor-Hobbs of Philadelphia PA
          Soe Moe Zaw of Trenton NJ
They were awarded the NJ State Gold Medal by a six chef judging team of master chefs. 
The team competed next at the Northeast Regional Competition in Newport RI on March 19, 2004. 
Although they didn't win they did a fantastic job upholding a proud tradition at the school.  Plans for next years team are underway.
